Dubai Hotels Furnishing Tips
There are a number of things one must consider in furnishing a hotel room. The term “hotel room” is a broad term, as it also refers to guest houses, holiday rentals, and hotel apartments. Most places have rules and regulations that must be followed in furnishing such facilities at Dubai Hotels.
In Dubai, the DTCM (the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing) is responsible for ensuring compliance Under DTCM requirements; parties in the hospitality industry must maintain a certain standard of safety, maintenance and cleanliness. Within these standards are certain requirements for beds, bedding, window coverings, and furnishings.
For example, in the area of bed and bedding, all mattresses must be clean and in good condition. For a single bed, the minimum length must be at least 190 cm and width no less than 90 cm. For a double bed the length must be at least 190 cm and the width no less than 135 cm. All bedding must be clean and in good condition. Pillows and bed covers must in the appropriate size to match the bed. For window coverings, one must provide blinds or opaque curtains to ensure a high level of privacy. Most hotels provide black out curtains, so that guests can receive a highest level of privacy and comfort of securing adequate rest regardless of their travel or work schedule.
As far as furnishings, the DTCM requires a bedside table equipped with a shaded lamp. It also requires a dressing table with mirror, a minimum of one chair for single occupancy room, two for double occupancy, a wardrobe with hangers, a chest of drawers, a wastebasket, carpet or rug for each bed, a telephone, a colour television, a well-kept set of bath linens for each guest, adequate room lighting and safety deposit box facilities either in the room or at the front desk. All furniture must be in well maintained with no holes or fractures, and in good working condition. These are just the basic requirements of what is needed in furnishings, and depending on the grade level of the hotel the level of quality will vary.
For example, most 4 and 5 Star hotel in Dubai offer 400 Thread Count, Egyptian Cotton for all bed linens, and many offer a Pillow Menu for its guests, providing a wide range of foam, feather, and hypo-allergenic to choose from.
